Description / 5mm Round Top Blue - Extra Fast Flashing 6Hz LED - Super Bright
The 5mm Blue Extra Fast Flashing 6Hz LED blinks approximately six times per second — a rapid strobe-like pulse that reads as alarm, emergency, or dramatic effect. No 555 timer, no oscillator, no microcontroller required — just apply DC power through a current-limiting resistor and it starts immediately.
| Size | 5mm (T-1 3/4) |
| Effect | ~6Hz (360 flashes/min) |
| Forward Voltage | 3.0-3.4v |
| Brightness | 10,000-12,000mcd |
| Package | T-1 3/4 through-hole DIP |
| Drive Current | 20mA typical |
Built for
- Halloween strobe effects: Rapid white flash behind a scrim for lightning simulation, or inside a prop skull/lantern for aggressive alarm. Simpler and cheaper than a dedicated strobe controller.
- Emergency vehicle simulation: Red 6Hz for scale fire trucks and ambulance models, amber for utility/DOT vehicles. RC builds (Traxxas, Axial, Tamiya) — cheaper than MyTrickRC light bar modules.
- Escape room alarm props: Fast-flashing red behind a translucent dome for “lockdown” or “containment breach” alert. DIY cost under $1 vs. $35+ commercial.
- Model railroad emergency scenes: Fire truck and ambulance response on layout. White fast flash for welding sparks or electrical arcing in industrial dioramas.
- Cosplay prop electronics: Rapid pulse for sci-fi weapon charging, cyberpunk implant blinks, robot eye flickers.
Makeshift controller trick: Wire this LED in series with standard LEDs, and the entire string will strobe together at ~6Hz. One 6Hz LED makes a bank of regular LEDs rapid-fire in sync.
Why this instead of a 555 timer? A 555 circuit could achieve this rate but requires the IC, two resistors, a capacitor, and a PCB. This LED is one component. Trade-off: fixed rate, no adjustment.
Polarity matters — long lead is positive (anode). Add a current-limiting resistor matched to your supply voltage. Drop-in replacement for any standard 5mm LED — same footprint, no circuit changes.
