The 5mm Blue/Red Red/Blue Alternating Flashing LED switches between red and blue from a single two-lead package — both colors in one LED, standard two-pin wiring. No 555 timer, no oscillator, no microcontroller required — just apply DC power through a current-limiting resistor and it starts immediately.
Two leads, two colors: Both the red and blue die are inside the same package with a standard two-lead pinout. No common-anode/cathode wiring. No third lead. Wires like any other 5mm LED.

Makeshift controller trick: Wire this red/blue LED in series with a standard LED, and the standard LED will blink in sync (though showing only its own color). Use multiple red/blue LEDs together for a light bar effect — slight timing drift between units adds realism.
Polarity matters — long lead is positive (anode). Add a current-limiting resistor matched to your supply voltage. Drop-in replacement for any standard 5mm LED — same footprint, no circuit changes.
