Description / 5mm Round Top Diffused Cool Clear White LED - Ultra Bright
The 5mm Diffused Cool White LED has a diffused lens that scatters light evenly in all directions, eliminating the visible bright point that clear-lens LEDs produce. The result is a soft, uniform glow — the LED looks like it is emitting light from the entire lens surface, not from a single point inside. This is the right choice when the LED will be visible to the eye or shining through a translucent material.
Cool white provides a clean modern look for contemporary model structures and general-purpose diffused indicators.

Why diffused instead of clear?
Clear-lens LEDs produce a focused, directional beam with a visible bright die point — great for signals and flashlights, but inside a translucent prop, model building, or LEGO brick, that bright point looks wrong. Diffused LEDs scatter the light so the entire lens glows evenly. The rule: use clear for focused/directional, use diffused for glow/ambient.
Common applications
- LEGO lighting mods: LEGO building interiors (modern/commercial look). The diffused lens produces a smooth glow through translucent LEGO bricks — no visible point source. Used by Brickstuff, Light My Bricks, and BriksMax kit builders. Clear for headlights, diffused for everything else.
- Cosplay and prop lighting: LEGO building interiors (modern/commercial look), model railroad station platforms, night light builds, photography light painting. Behind translucent materials (resin, Worbla, frosted acrylic), the diffused output creates a natural “the object is glowing” effect.
- Model railroad building windows: A diffused LED inside a model structure illuminates the whole interior evenly — no “flashlight shining out” effect. 5mm fits HO and O scale structures.
- Warhammer and miniature wargaming — plasma weapon glow, power sword energy, eye lenses, terrain braziers and fire effects. Diffused LEDs are strongly preferred among miniature painters and terrain builders for realistic glow effects.
- Night lights and accent lighting: Inside 3D-printed enclosures, frosted glass, or resin castings for a gentle ambient glow. The diffusion prevents harsh glare.
- Aquarium moonlighting: Blue diffused LEDs provide soft lunar simulation for nighttime viewing without stressing fish or promoting algae.
- Photography light painting: Diffused LEDs produce smooth, creamy light trails in long-exposure photography. Clear LEDs create trails with a bright core.
Standard T-1 3/4 through-hole footprint. Fits all 5mm LED holders, bezels, and panel-mount clips.
