5mm Flat Piranha Cool / Clear White LED - Ultra Bright Superflux

The 5mm Cool White Flat Piranha LED packs high output into a wide-body, 4-pin through-hole package. The Piranha/Superflux design provides a 100-120 Degrees viewing angle with significantly more light output than a standard 5mm round-top LED. The 4-pin mounting provides mechanical stability on PCBs — no wobble or misalignment.

Common applications

• Automotive tail light and brake light arrays: Build custom LED tail light boards with multiple Piranha LEDs for even, high-output illumination. The wide body and 4-pin mount make dense PCB arrays stable and reliable.
• OEM tail light component replacement: Many factory-installed LED tail lights use Piranha/Superflux LEDs. When individual LEDs fail, replacing the specific LED is far cheaper than a new tail light assembly. Common on post-2005 vehicles.
• Channel letter and sign backlighting: Arrays of white and red Piranha LEDs behind sign faces provide bright, even illumination. The wide viewing angle minimizes dead spots between LEDs.
• Model railroad structure lighting: The high output and wide beam angle make Piranha LEDs effective for large-scale (O, G gauge) platform and yard lighting where standard LEDs are too dim.
• Custom PCB indicator arrays: The 4-pin package mounts flat and stable on custom PCBs. Used for multi-LED status panels, bar graph displays, and high-visibility indicator matrices.

PCB footprint note: The Piranha/Superflux package is not included in standard KiCad or EasyEDA libraries. The 4-pin layout uses approximately 5mm square pin spacing on a 7.6mm body. We plan to provide a KiCad footprint for this package in the future.
