ATtiny85-20PU — 8-bit AVR microcontroller in a DIP-8 package. 8KB flash memory, 512 bytes SRAM, 5 usable GPIO pins (PB0-PB4). Runs at up to 20MHz.
The ATtiny85 is the go-to chip for small LED control projects that need more flexibility than a 555 timer but less complexity than a full Arduino. Program it using the Arduino IDE with the Digispark bootloader or a dedicated ISP programmer.
Common uses: programmable LED patterns, PWM dimming, sensor-driven lighting, replacing complex 555 timer circuits, and driving MAX7219 LED drivers via SPI.
